上海市民办中芯学校座落于被誉为“中国硅谷”的上海浦东张江科学城，由中芯国际集成电路制造有限公司于2001年创办，是一所集幼儿园、小学、中学十五年一贯制的民办学校。学校分中文部和国际部，包含二个幼儿园。

在2023年度美国大学理事会中国论坛上，上海市民办中芯学校国际部被美国大学理事会认可为“2023年中国AP Capstone荣誉学校”，成为过去三年内获得该殊荣的12所中国学校之一。

The College Board, which oversees the AP (Advanced Placement) program, hosted their 2023 College Board China Forum at Tongji University in Shanghai on October 15.

At the final part of the forum, there was an award ceremony where Shanghai SMIC International Division (SMIC-I) was recognized by the College Board as a “2023 AP Capstone Honor School in China”. SMIC-I is amongONLY 12 SCHOOLS IN CHINAto have had students successfully complete the AP Capstone Diploma or Certificate in the past three years. To put this in context, in 2020 there were 268 AP schools in China, so less than 5% of AP Schools in China received this recognition. Director of Counseling Phil Chu, and Data Coordinator Anna Yang received the award on behalf of our school.

The AP program is very important to school. Of the 90 SMIC-I high school classes the school have, 28 are AP courses. That is 31% of all the HS courses. Nearly 3/4 of all the SMIC-I high school students take AP courses.

There are two main AP Capstone classes (Research and Seminar) that students take where they plan and conduct original research projects which they write and present about. The quality of SMIC-I students’ research is really amazing – so advanced and sophisticated.

In order to get the AP Capstone Diploma students get a score of 3 or higher (out of 5 maximum points) in both classes, and they also get scores of 3 or higher on 4 other AP exams for other AP courses. Those students who get a score of at 3 on the two AP Capstone classes but who don’t get scores of at least 3 on 4 other AP exams receive the AP Seminar and Research Certificate.

在AP Capstone的两个主要课程中（AP Capstone Seminar and Research课程），学生需要规划并进行原创项目的研究，然后进行论文撰写和答辩。上海市民办中芯学校国际部学生的研究质量非常出色——具有高度的先进性和复杂性。
